According to the National Fire Protection Association, in 59% of home fire deaths, there were no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms.
Desoto County Emergency Services in conjunction with the Board of Supervisors and the State Fire Marshal's Office is offering free smoke alarm installation to residents in the unincorporated county. Once an application is received, a representative from Desoto County Emergency Services will reach out and schedule an installation time. The number of alarms is limited so alarms will be provided on a first come first served basis.
