Michael Lee's priorities include: supporting law enforcement & first responders; supporting families and children; enhancing infrastructure through the thoughtful construction & renovation of roads and bridges; ensuring quality of life.
PUBLIC SERVICE & BUSINESS EXPERIENCE

Supporting Law Enforcement & First Responders
- Supported placing School Resource Officers in all schools
- Instrumental in the development of DeSoto County's first Swat Team
- Worked to develop DeSoto County Sheriff's Department's motorcycle patrol unit
- Championed a new facility for ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children)
- Involved in overseeing the completion of the new Sheriff's Administration Building, Jail, and Juvenile Court.
- Instrumental in overseeing the design and construction of the new Justice Court facility
- Worked with developer to ensure land will be provided for a new fire station on Getwell road

- Assisting in the overseeing, design, and development of the Agri-Education Center
- Negotiated with builder and others for donations to build a new park in Lewisburg
- Implemented and helped lead the "Be A Winner" program in DeSoto County Schools

Infrastructure Improvements
- Massive project to remove Holly Springs Road out of flood plain includes elevating the roadway and building new bridges
- Driving DeSoto Committee Member - working to widen I-55, 302, 305 & Hwy 51.
- Craft road widened and sidewalks added
- Partnered with the City of Hernando to realign McIngvale and install an exit on I-269.
- Championed the extension of Commerce Road and worked with land owners on right-of-way needed
- Work with MDOT on safety improvements with the addition of traffic signals, 4-way stops, and improved signage
Commitment to Quality of Life
- Meets with developers to ensure communities are well designed and beneficial to families and the county
- Works with residents to improve areas or resolve issues and concerns
- Facilitates public hearings, meetings, and work sessions to guide the strategic direction of the county
- Helps set fiscal policy while maintaining a balanced budget with no tax increase for 19 years
- Worked to bring recycling to the entire county and supports Household Hazardous Waste Day
