As part of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), there are several Crime Scene Technicians (CST's) who specialize in locating and collecting physical evidence in criminal cases. CSTs receive advanced training and have highly specialized equipment to assist them in processing the scenes of major crimes. In addition to on-scene investigations, CSTs also use a special processing facility to develop trace evidence using chemicals, alternate light sources, specialized photography, and alternate light sources. CST's are on duty 24 hours a day to respond to crime scenes as quickly as possible.
Evidence & Property
Crime scene personnel are also responsible for evidence and property, making sure that evidence collected is organized and secure. Evidence in criminal cases include weapons, narcotics, recovered stolen property, and forensic evidence.
