Crisis Response Unit

The Crisis Response Unit (C.R.U.) is comprised of two specialized teams: The Crisis Negotiation Team (C.N.T.) and the Special Weapons and Tactics team (S.W.A.T.) The unit has been established to provide specialized support in handling critical field operations where intense negotiations and/or special tactical deployment methods beyond the capacity of field deputies appear to be necessary.

The C.R.U. commander is selected by the Sheriff upon recommendation of staff personnel. The commander manages the C.R.U. under the direction of the Sheriff and Chief Deputy. The team supervisors are then selected by the Sheriff upon specific recommendation by the commander. Both the negotiation team and the SWAT team are supervised by a team leader.
