Give-a-Hoot for DeSoto County Teachers

Operation Give A Hoot for Teachers and Students

From Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation - The new school year has begun and Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation is bringing back Operation Give-A-Hoot!  Operation Give-A-Hoot gives our local businesses the opportunity to sponsor teachers and/or classes for a WILD experience with Mississippi Wildlife.  We invite you to give-a-hoot about our students and teachers and sponsor an education program for their class! 

We currently have over 80 teachers who have applied for a sponsorship, more than half for classes of 50 students!  

Two Programs Offered

Owl Pellet Program: Students dissect the pellets to learn more about the owl's diet and the ecosystems in which they live.  Program  include the owl pellets, tools needed for dissection, as well as an educational program with one of our education ambassadors.

  • Cost for 50 Children $285
  • Cost for 25 Children $225

Raising Kane Program: Students learn about Hawks in our area.  They get an in-class visit from Kane the Broadwing Hawk.  Students get to be interactive with the wings and feet of raptors.

  •  Cost Per Class $150

Additional Information

Mississippi Wildlife is a 501c3 organization. Tax donation receipts will be provided to businesses or individuals that sponsor a teacher.    Also, business that sponsor will also be promoted on Mississippi Wildlife's social media platforms as well as community site pages.  Pictures and video of the programs, along with business logos and contact information, will be included spotlighting the sponsors!
