Beginning Monday, June 22 the Mississippi Department of Public Safety implemented changes to the current weekly schedule at all permanent driver license stations in adherence to recommended social distancing guidelines.
*Customers are strongly encouraged to wear masks inside the driver license stations.
*Temperature checks will be administered to each customer before entering service locations.
*Wednesdays will now only be designated for firearm permits, security guard permits, renewals, and duplicate transactions for driver licenses and identification cards.
*Wednesdays will also be available for customers 65 years and older to be serviced between the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
*Each station location will continue following the daily schedule according to the first letter of customers’ last names.
Wednesday: Firearm permits, security guard permits, renewals, and duplicate transactions for driver licenses and identification cards. Service for customers 65 and older from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
*Renewal and duplicate driver licenses, ID cards, and address changes can be done on the DPS website at driverservicebureau.dps.ms.gov.
*ALL road tests for non-commercial drivers are waived until further notice.
*Minors must submit an affidavit completed by parent or guardian certifying 50 hours of supervised driving time to waive the road test. The affidavit must be submitted when the teen goes to take the written test.
*A school attendance form, report card, or progress report from the current school year must also be presented along with the Wavier of Road-Testing Affidavit.
