Chancery Clerk's Office and COVID-19

COVID19

Due to the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the DeSoto County Chancery Clerk’s offices will be closing to the public effective March 19th. We are committed to keeping our customers and employees safe during this time. Our offices will continue to operate, and we request that you do business with this office ONLINE, by MAIL, or by PHONE.  There will be drop off boxes located outside each of our offices. Contact information including addresses, phone numbers and emails of each office will be listed at the end of this notice.

All fees should be paid by check or money order. Cash will not be accepted at this time.

Chancery Court

Attorneys should continue to use MEC to file electronically. For any documents that cannot be e-filed, please mail in, drop off or email. Requests for copies can be emailed to ChanCourt@DeSotoCountyMS.gov or faxed to 662-469-8308. If you need certified copies, they will be mailed to you unless you specifically request a pick up. Documents for pick up will be placed outside the office in a bin clearly labeled.

Customers without attorneys (PRO-SE) can drop off their initial filings outside the office in the boxes provided. Please include a payment in check or money order and follow the instructions provided. Contact us at 662-469-8398 if you have questions. Please note: The Chancery Clerk’s office cannot provide legal assistance. Visit our website for information about Access to Justice or other resources available to you: https://www.desotocountyms.gov/Chancery.

Please contact us by phone or email about Domestic Abuse Protection Orders, Commitments, or other cases that may not require an attorney to file in Chancery Court.

Land Records

E-Recording is highly recommended. Please visit our website for more information about how to sign up for E-Recording. Recordings can be filed via mail in, drop off or E-Recording. A drop off box will be available outside the main land records office at 311 W South Street, Suite C in Hernando, MS.

Land Records are available to the public via our website at www.landrecords.desotocountyms.gov/acclaimweb. Certified copies can be requested via email or fax (see the contact information below.)

Delinquent Taxes

Delinquent Taxes are to be paid in check or money order and submitted via mail or drop off. A drop off box will be available outside the Land Redemption office located at 365 Losher St, Ste 120 in Hernando. Notary Services

All person to person contact is being avoided at this time, therefore no notary services will be provided to the public.
