Olive Branch Annexation

On ApriMap of Olive Branch New City Limits Opens in new windowl 27, 2021, Judge Percy Lynchard filed a Final Decree in the City of Olive Branch's annexation case.  The judge approved the annexation of approximately 18.5 square miles of unincorporated DeSoto County.  The annexation is effective starting May 28, 2021.  That means all residents, businesses, and organizations in the annexed area are officially members of Olive Branch on May 28, 2021.   DeSoto County understands there are a number of questions regarding the transition from County services to Olive Branch services.

IMPORTANT: DeSoto County Supervisors will continue to serve residents in the newly annexed areas.  Each Supervisor is elected to serve the residents of cities, towns, and unincorporated areas in their district.


NOTE: The intention of this webpage is to provide answers to commonly asked questions regarding the transition.  DeSoto County will provide some services for a period of time.  The City of Olive Branch is the governing agency in the newly annexed areas and may change or adjust its regulations, policies, and practices as it deems necessary.  Questions or concerns should be directed to the City of Olive Branch 662-892-9200 or the City's website.

EMERGENCY SERVICES 

The City of Olive Branch Police and Fire are currently servicing the newly annexed area, as is the Olive Branch Emergency 911 call center. If you have an emergency, please call 911. For after-hours City Utility issues, and for any non-emergency needs, dial 662-895-4111. 

ANIMAL SERVICES

The Olive Branch Animal Shelter will respond to calls involving stays and aggressive animals in the newly annexed areas.  The phone number is 662-895-4582.   For animal emergencies after hours - call the Olive Branch Police Department 662-895-4111.

BUILDING AND PLANNING

DeSoto County and Olive Branch are working together during this transition.  At this time, residential projects already underway will continue to be monitored by the county.  Commercial projects and new public hearings will be transferred to the City.  New projects, buildings, and permits will be handled by Olive Branch.  Go to the Olive Branch Planning and Building website for information.  The phone number is  662-892-9334.

GARBAGE AND RECYCLING

Waste Pro will continue to service residents in the newly annexed area through September 30, 2023.  Service dates will remain the same.

RUBBISH COLLECTION

Olive Branch provides curbside pickup of limbs, Brush, and miscellaneous items.  Contact Olive Branch Public Works for collection dates 662-893-5209.

STORMWATER HOTLINE

The City of Olive Branch maintains a Stormwater Hotline.  The number is 662-892-9352.

STREET MAINTENANCE

Call 662-895-4335 for street repairs, pot holes, right-of-way and roadside maintenance, traffic signs, and road markings in Olive Branch. 

ELECTIONS

Olive Branch City Clerk's Office states residents must live in the City of Olive Branch for 30 days before they vote in a city election.  According the the Clerk, residents in the newly annexed areas area do not meet the 30 day residency requirement and therefore, can not vote in the June 8, 2021 elections.  Questions or concerns should be directed to the Olive Branch City Clerk 662-892-9211.
