The DeSoto County Board of Supervisors extended Spring Cleanup week from 7 days to 10 days this year. Fourteen dumpsters will be placed in unincorporated areas across DeSoto County.

8am -Noon. Groups, Communities, Churches, HOAs, Families, and Individuals are encouraged to adopt and clean an intersection or road. Registered volunteers will receive a Cleanup Kit which includes garbage bags, gloves, trash grabbers, and safety signs. Sign up by calling 662-469-8152 or register online.

April 23: Earth Day Festival
9AM-1PM around the DeSoto County Courthouse in Hernando. It is being held in conjunction with the Hernando Farmer's Market Opening Day and the Hernando Arts Festival. All Earth Day actives are free. Exhibits include live animals, crafts, games, free document shredding, recycling information, and 4-H activities.

8 AM - 1PM at the Landers Center. Free for all residents of DeSoto County. Hazardous Household Waste includes unused or left-over portions of products containing toxic chemicals. Items include: Paint, Motor Oil, Acids, Poisons, etc.
