Command Staff

The command staff is made up of officers from diverse backgrounds. Together, these volunteers bring more than a century of Emergency Response experience to the SAR Unit. All members have been trained in the National Incident Management System and some have chosen to become Instructors. Every member of the Incident Management Team participates in the FEMA Independent Study Program and some have studied at the National Training Center at Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The team's Search Management qualifications include "Search is an Emergency" and Managing Land Search Operations". The team has also graduates from the Department of Defense prestigious "Inland SAR" school at Yorktown, Virginia.

Members of the Incident Management Team have not only directed local Emergency Operations, but also participate on the state level through the Regional Response Team. In the aftermath of Katrina, members of the Incident Management Team deployed to the coast as Task Force Commander, Operations Officer, and Boat Commander. Team members take turns participating in Department of Homeland Security Exercises across the state in order to be prepared for the next disaster.
